Newcastle United are keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley next month, according to The Telegraph.
The Magpies recently picked up their first win of the Premier League campaign, and they are now three points adrift of safety.
Ahead of the New Year, the club’s new owners are keeping tabs on multiple players. Barkley is one of the top names on their radar.
The England international has only made four appearances for the Blues this term, and has been an unused substitute in recent weeks.
He will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January, and reports claim that the Magpies will attempt to sign him next month.
Aside from Barkley, the club have their sights on landing Jesse Lingard, who has also struggled for game time at Manchester United.
The 28-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the campaign. The Magpies are willing to make him their highest earner at £100,000-a-week.
