Manchester United reportedly need to pay around €80 million to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.
The Red Devils are braced for the departure of Paul Pogba when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
The search is underway for a potential replacement, and Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milinkovic-Savic is being considered.
However, the 27-year-old is unlikely to come on the cheap. Lazio are reluctant to sanction his sale for anything less than €80m.
United are capable of spending big in the transfer market, but they may still struggle to prise him away from the Serie A club.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in signing him, and it is reported that he could prefer a move to Paris over Manchester.
Meanwhile, Champions League football could also be essential to luring him. There are no assurances for that at the moment.
United are presently one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the standings, but the London club have three games in hand over them.
